Who were the apostles? They were 12 men who were handpicked by Jesus each representing one of the twelve tribes of Israel.

Not a lot was written by the apostles themselves. In a passage with Jesus and Peter talking about John, Jesus says in John 21:22-23: "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me." Because of this, the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?" This statement by our Lord led the apostles to believe he would return during their lives so they didn’t bother with writing much down. There are only two Gospels written by Apostles. Most of the writings in the bible were by helpers, such as Mark and Luke.

In Daniel 9:25-26 it is said that there would be 69 prophetic weeks till the Messiah
would appear, and would be cut off (Crucified) in the midst of the week. This equals 483 years.
Ezra tells us in 7:8 that it was in the 7th.Year of Artaxerxes reign that the decree came, which would be between Sept.458BC to Sept 457BCJhis would be the 1st. Month to Sth.Month of God’s Calendar (latter part of March to latter part of July 457BC). This was when Ezra journeyed back to Judaea.
The date of issuance is amply proved from astronomy, business Documents and the Canon of Ptolemy. The true date is 457BC fixed by the most accurate records of history, written at that very time. 483 years later brings us to the Autumn of AD 26.

In 860AD St.Photius, Patriarch of Constantinople sent the Brothers Constantine and Metbodius into Moravia to bring the Faith to the Slavic people.

The Coptic Orthodox Church has long known of the historic links between the British Isles and Christian Egypt, but documentation and solid evidence is thin on the ground for these early centuries of church history. There are learned articles by Monique Blanc Ortolan of the Musee des Arts coratifs, Paris, and Pierre du ouguet of the Louvre on ‘Coptic and Irish Art’ and by Joseph F.T.Kelly of John Carrofl University, Cleveland, Ohio, on ‘Coptic Influences in the British Isles’ in the Coptic Encyclopedia which are worth consulting. Other works, like Shirley Toulson’s The Celtic Year, which asserts that “rather than adhere to the ruling of the Council (of Chalcedon), some of the most dedicated adherents of Monophysitism fled from Egypt, and some of them most surely travelled west and north to Ireland”, in their enthusiasm to establish a link, make up what is lacking in hard evidence with sheer conjecture.
The late Archdale King noted the links between Celtic Ireland and Coptic Egypt. He suggests that much of the contact took place before the Muslim Conquest of 640. There exist evidence of a Mediterranean trade in a single passage in the life of St.John the Almsgiver (loannes Ill Eleemon) , Greek Patriarch of Alexandria between 61 0-621, in which reference is made to a vessel sailing to Alexandra from Britain with a cargo of tin, doubtless come from Cornwall or Somerset.

Hundreds of years ago, at the same site a miracle happened when a ruler asked the Coptic Patriarch to prove his faith. It is mentioned in the Bible : If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can ask the mountain to move and it will. As mentioned in the "Church History" the Patriarch called upon the people to pray. He saw a vision: The Virgin Mary gave him a clue about the man who would lead them in their prayers. That was Samaan, a man of true faith. The people prayed and the mountain moved up and down as they shouted; "God have mercy"

I. Introduction

A few years ago, I was on a guided tour of the Karnak Temple in Luxor when another group tourists with their own guide came up behind my group. My attention was diverted to the young Egyptian guide leading the other group. He was explaining how the Christian paintings on some of the columns came into being. To my amazement he said in English, "these paintings were done by the Copts who came into Egypt after the Greeks and the Romans." Sadly, this error in history reflects a serious loss of identity for the "Copts" rather than ignorance on the part of the guide or a deliberate effort to mislead foreign tourists.

St. Mark, one of the seventy Apostles, introduced Christianity to Africa. He began his evangelism in his prior native country in North Africa, which is now known as Libya. It was logic for St. Mark to choose the responsibility to evangelize in this area, as he was himself an African.?? Africa is the "See of St. Mark"
H.H. Pope Shenouda III, is the 116th after St. Mark, in an unbroken succession . We grew up to learn that one of the titles of our patriarchs includes "All Africa".? We have a Metropolitan in Sudan and a daughter church in Ethiopia. The Ethiopian Church, not long ago had declared her independence, but a new African Patriarchate in Ereteria was established.
